It made an absurd $193 million worldwide on a $15,000 budget, making it one of the most profitable movies of all time.

For a masterclass in disgusting practical effects wizardry, John Carpenter’s The Thing is still an effective piece of stomach-churning cinema, and its 4k Blu-ray has been discounted from $30 to $18.
