Payday 3 developer Starbreeze has announced that it will be taking the game’s servers offline in order to combat online issues that are plaguing it.
On Tuesday and Friday of this week, the servers will be shut down for three hours between 11 PM and 2 AM PT, which is 2 AM and 5 AM ET. “Heisters. In order to improve server and matchmaking stability, we will make upgrades to the environment ahead of this weekend,” Starbreeze said.
Unfortunately, Payday 3 hasn’t had the best launch since it became widely available to the public. The game’s official Twitter account first acknowledged issues with matchmaking services this past weekend and has been actively trying to fix them. However, it seems like the problems are ongoing and Starbreeze now needs to take the servers offline.
Starbreeze said that it didn’t anticipate the difficulties players would have with logging int o the game. The studio floated around the idea of an offline mode but couldn’t confirm anything just yet. This was a response to players asking about the game’s always-online requirement. Starbreeze said that the requirement was based on feedback from Payday 2 where cheaters ran rampant, and this was one of the ways to stop that.
There are some other potential features that may come to Payday 3 in the future, including lobby chat for text and voice, a quickplay option, and mouse and keyboard support.
Payday 3 is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
