Musical video games where you play plastic instruments may not be as popular as they once were, but for those guitar heroes looking to rock on, there’s a new peripheral on the block. PDP has officially revealed the Riffmaster (via IGN), a wireless guitar controller for multiple consoles.
It’ll be available from Spring 2024, and yes, you can use it to play some tunes in Fortnite Festival. Just remember, no Stairway. Denied.
The Riffmaster is compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4, but a price for it has not yet been revealed by PDP. While it might look similar to the peripherals used in Guitar Hero and Rock Band, there are some key differences here. The design is ambidextrous–lefties, your time has come–it has a foldable design for easy storage, and PDP claims it has up to 36 hours of battery life.
There’s also a thumbstick behind the headstock, and the pickguard can be removed. You can use it in Rock Band 4, which just received its final piece of DLC after a lengthy tour lasting years. It’s worth noting that Fortnite Festival will receive a patch in the future from Harmonix to make Rock Band controllers work on it, just in case you want to get the band back together.
