Helldivers 2, one of 2024’s most well-received games so far, launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PC. And since its release, it’s been not just Xbox players, but also those on PlayStation who have been pleading with Arrowhead Game Studios to port the game to Xbox.
This trend recently started to gain a lot of traction when Xbox boss Phil Spencer announced that four unnamed Xbox exclusives will be making their way to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Coincidentally, this was around the same time that a challenging in-game Helldivers 2 event began, which revolves around Automatons invading human-controlled planets.

Now Playing: Helldivers 2 Review – Starship Bloopers
Following the Xbox announcement and the Automatons invasion, some PlayStation players have been asking for support, specifically from Xbox players. It didn’t take long for people to notice the parallels between Helldivers and ODSTs from the Halo series. In short, both are highly trained soldiers who drop from space pods into combat. One X/Twitter user wrote, “The amount of veteran ODST players waiting to join the frontlines against the automatons and terminids is actually insane.”
A Change.Org has been created in the hopes of Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox. As of writing, the petition has over 53,000 signatures, with the goal of reaching 75,000. In the petition, they argue that “the arrival of Helldivers 2 on Xbox is not merely a matter of accessibility; it is a testament to the power of unity, the resilience of the human spirit, and the unbreakable bonds forged in the fires of battle.”
Spencer has also commented on Helldivers 2 not being on Xbox. In an interview, he stated that he’s “not exactly sure who it helps in the industry by not being on Xbox,” while also acknowledging that Xbox has first-party exclusives, too. The prospect of an Xbox port doesn’t seem particularly likely, given that PlayStation Studios is the game’s publisher–its games rarely appear on Xbox, outside of the MLB The Show series. But even if PlayStation were to do that, Arrowhead Game Studios is currently facing server stability issues due to it being massively popular.
X/Twitter has numerous posts from both Xbox and PlayStation fans sharing how fun it would be to see both platforms work together to defend Super Earth. Here are some of the best takes we’ve seen about Xbox players joining in on the fight.
Be sure to check out our Helldivers 2 review, where Jordan Ramée wrote, “Helldivers 2 has plenty of tense moments against gargantuan bugs and hulking tank-like machines, but the entire experience is largely meant to make you feel good and have a laugh with friends, a refreshing notion for how darkly serious most major shooters are today.”
