Persona 5: The Phantom X Mobile Game Announced For iOS And Android

Atlus is expanding its Persona 5 universe once again, this time with a mobile game for iOS and Android that is being developed by Chinese studio Perfect World Games under supervision from Sega and Atlus.

Titled Persona: Phantom of the Night, the game features artistic contributions from Persona series designer Shigenori Soejima, as well as plenty of the trademark action from the fifth entry in the action-RPG series. You can see more for yourself in the trailers below (via Gematsu) ahead of the game’s first public test on March 29.

Like Persona 5, Phantom of the Night mixes traditional turn-based combat with maintaining a social life. As a new high school student, you’ll have to juggle your academic responsibilities during the day and engage in stylish combat at night alongside your classmates in a new Phantom Thieves gang. The videos don’t show which monetization methods will come into play for this free-to-play title, but there will be item-based in-app purchases present.

The Persona series has grown over recent years with numerous ports to current-gen system and several spin-off games based on Persona 5, including Persona 5: Strikers and Persona 5: Dancing in the Starlight.

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden have been released on new platforms, Persona 6 is reportedly in development, and Sega is even looking at developing a live-action Persona series in the future thanks to the success of its Sonic the Hedgehog films.
