Pokemon's Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon Will Feature Pikachu And Eevee This Year

One of America’s most enduringly popular Thanksgiving Day traditions is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and this year it’ll feature a new Pokemon balloon.

The Pokemon Company has announced a new balloon for 2021, and it features not only Pikachu, who is typically featured alone during the event, but also Eevee. The balloon features the two critters sitting on a Poke Ball-inspired sled and wearing themed clothing for the holidays.

Pikachu usually gets all the spotlight during the parade, but The Pokemon Company’s Colin Palmer said Eevee was the “perfect Pokemon friend” to join Pikachu and represent the Pokemon brand as it looks to the future. You can watch the Pokemon segment from last year’s parade below; it included a tease for the 25th anniversary of Pokemon in 2021.

The new balloon is the fourth such Pokemon balloon featured at the parade since Pokemon first appeared at the event in 2001. The three previous balloons featured Pikachu alone.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held Thursday, November 25. Whether or not there are any additional gaming-related balloons this year remains to be seen. Whatever the case, the parade takes place just after Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl release on November 19.

One day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday, which is when we are expecting lots of sales and discounts on games, hardware, accessories, and more–keep checking back with GameSpot for more on Black Friday 2021.
