Proceeds From New State Of Decay 2 Shirt Are Going To The NAACP

To celebrate Black History Month, State of Decay 2 developer Undead Labs commissioned Black artist Ty Ferrell to create a limited-edition t-shirt design that will be available for purchase in the official Xbox gear store. Profits from the shirt’s sales will be donated to the NAACP (the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).

“At Undead Labs, we make games about surviving together. The heart and strength of the community lie at the foundation of the State of Decay games, and this is by design,” Undead Labs’ communications director Wonder Russell said in a statement. “We believe this is also true in the real world, and that we do our best work when we come together. Undead Labs is proud to stand in support of the Black community and Team Xbox in celebration of Black History Month.”

Now Playing: 7 Big Ways State Of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition Improves The Game

Starting today, Ferrell’s shirt design will be available not only on the Xbox gear store, but also in State of Decay 2. After an update, players will find a digital version of Ferrell’s shirt loaded into their character closets as a wearable item. The shirt was inspired by Ferrell’s passion for social justice, the NAACP’s “We Are Done Dying” campaign, and the relevant themes within the world of State of Decay.

Those who want to wear the shirt irl can feel good knowing that their purchase will be going towards a good cause. Specifically, the NAACP will receive $5.50 USD per shirt sale, in addition to a one-time $5,000 donation from Undead Labs. There are currently no plans to reprint this shirt, so if you want it you’ll need to grab it by March 1, when it leaves the Xbox gear store.

This is only one of the ways Xbox is looking to support Black voices this month. The company has several other initiatives running, including curation of Black games, media, and creators, and month-long programming to highlight Black communities.
