PS5 Pro Hasn't Sold Out Right Away Like Some Expected

There was sticker shock when Sony announced that the PS5 Pro would cost $700, but that didn’t stop people betting the upgraded console would sell out regardless. So far, that’s proven untrue in the US and UK.

On X, Verge senior editor Tom Warren pointed out PS5 Pro is still available to buy on PlayStation Direct after a weekend on sale. PS5 Pro preorders started on the site on September 26 and will open at other retailers like Best Buy and Amazon on October 10.

Earlier this month, Sony unveiled the PS5 Pro for $700, with the system set to come out in November. The internet had quite the reaction to the price tag, as the PS5 Pro retails for $200 more than a regular PS5–and doesn’t include a disc drive. People also seemed annoyed that the upgraded system doesn’t come with a vertical stand.

Analysts have predicted the high price point shouldn’t affect PS5 Pro sales too much and ultimately will be comparable to PS4 Pro. Piers Harding-Rolls, research director of games at Ampere Analysis, believes Sony will sell roughly 1.3 million PS5 Pro systems during the launch window.

GameSpot got hands-on time with PS5 Pro and questioned whether $700 is worth it if you already have an original PS5. Meanwhile, more PS5 Pro Enhanced games have recently been discovered, including Fortnite, EA Sports College Football 25, and Warframe. For more, check out everything we know about PS5 Pro.
