CBS has announced that Reno 911: The Hunt for QAnon will premiere on Paramount+ on December 13.
In the upcoming special, the deputies from the Reno Sheriff’s Department are “on a mission to track down the one and only Q, the one behind all QAnon conspiracies.” According to a release, the pursuit will capsize the officers “as they get stuck at a QAnon convention at sea, ultimately escaping only to discover that they’ve landed at Jeffrey Epstein’s old island.”
If the timing of the special seems a bit odd, note that the special was originally announced back in February ahead of CBS All Access rebranding to Paramount+–which wound up shuffling things around. Nevertheless, Reno has endured across a number of platforms for quite a long time, so it’s still good to see the series alive and kicking.
Reno 911 began life in 2003 as a then revolutionary mockumentary-style show on Comedy Central parodying the recently canceled (and pretty problematic) Cops. The series spawned a movie, Reno 911: Miami, in 2007–and was later revived at the short-lived Quibi for a seventh season.
The entire original cast of Reno 911 will reunite for the special, including Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Cedric Yarbrough, Carlos Alazraqui, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Niecy Nash, along with Mary Birdsong and Ian Roberts, who joined the show later in its run.
