Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City Includes Jill Sandwich Reference, And It Isn't Cringey

A new clip released for the upcoming movie Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City puts the spotlight on Jill Valentine, and it includes a very funny reference to an infamously bad line of dialogue from the original Resident Evil game.

In a character featurette focused on Jill Valentine, who is played by Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) in the film, she steals a sandwich while sitting in a restaurant booth and proclaims that it’s “Jill’s Sandwich” in third-person. This would be a weird thing to say if not for the famous line from the original Resident Evil game in which Barry Burton proclaims that Jill almost became a “Jill Sandwich” after narrowly avoiding danger.

It’s important to remember the series that almost singlehandedly started the zombie video game craze was also very, very silly. It still is, actually, especially with Ethan Winters in Resident Evil Village, and Barry Burton’s co-lead role in Resident Evil Revelations 2 also gave him plenty of room to deliver more famous one-liners.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City slowly walks to theaters on November 24. It also stars Tom Hopper–best known for his role in The Umbrella Academy–playing Albert Wesker.

Additionally, you can look at Welcome To Raccoon City videos featuring Claire Redfield, Chris Redfield, and Leon.
