Saved By The Bell Reboot Will Return For Season 2

The reboot of popular ’90s high school comedy Saved by the Bell was one of Peacock’s big titles last year, with Season 1 hitting the service in November. It’s now been announced that the show will return for Season 2.

Peacock has confirmed that it has ordered 10 new episodes of Saved by the Bell. Tracey Wigfield will return as showrunner, but Season 2 has not been given a premiere date yet.

In a statement, Wigfield said, “I’m thrilled that Saved by the Bell has been renewed. I’ve been blown away by all the love for the show and can’t wait to go back and make more episodes. Hopefully we stay on Peacock for many more seasons, and then in 30 years, somebody does a reboot of our reboot and invents the threeboot.”

This new version of the show mixes members of the original cast with new actors–aside from Dustin Diamond (Screech) and Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding), many familiar faces have returned including Mario Lopez (Slater), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie), Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack), and Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly). The new cast includes Belmont Cameli as Slater and Jessie’s son and Velazquez as Daisy.

However, the show was met with controversy shortly after its premiere in November. Peacock was forced to apologize for a running joke about actor-singer Selena Gomez’s 2017 kidney transplant in Episode 6.

Saved by the Bell originally ran for four seasons from 1989 to 1993. It was followed by two spin-off series, Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class, plus two TV movies, Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style and Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas.
