Warner Bros. has released a new image from Joker 2, giving fans a first look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in the highly anticipated sequel to one of the biggest movies of all time.
Gaga, Warner Bros., and director Todd Phillips shared the same image from the movie. Phillips captioned the image, “Happy Valentine’s Day,” while Gaga used the film’s title in her tweet, “Folie a Deux.” Here is the photo, featuring Gaga as Harley and Joaquin Phoenix as Joker:
According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming is underway on Joker 2 in New York and Los Angeles ahead of the movie’s release date of October 4, 2024.
2019’s Joker was a huge success, earning more than $1 billion at the box office–on a modest budget–and earning Phoenix an Academy Award for his portrayal of Joker. For Joker 2, Phoenix stands to make a $20 million payday.
In addition to Gaga, Joker 2 adds new cast members including Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener, among others. As mentioned, Phillips returns to write and direct.
