Seth MacFarlane Says He Regrets Having Family Guy On Fox Due To Tucker Carlson's Comments

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has spoken out to say he wishes his popular Fox animated show was “on any other network” in the wake of Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s latest comments. MacFarlane said Family Guy’s relationship with Fox was turning into a broken marriage. Family Guy and Carlson’s show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, don’t air on the same network, but they share a history and branding that leads many to connect the two.

“Tucker Carlson’s latest opinion piece once again makes me wish Family Guy was on any other network. Look, Fox, we both know this marriage isn’t working anymore,” he said. “The sex is only once a year, I don’t get along with your mother, and well… I’ve been having an affair with NBC.”

That last comment pertains to the deal MacFarlane made with NBC’s Universal Content Productions in January 2020. The move marked a big change for MacFarlane, who had been with 20th Century Fox TV for a very long time.

Carlson is known for being outspoken and controversial on a range of political topics. Whether or not Family Guy ever moves off Fox, or if there is any fallout related to MacFarlane’s comments, remains to be seen. Family Guy is known for regularly poking fun at Fox News in its storylines.

Family Guy is one of Fox’s most popular animated shows, and it’s been picked up through Season 21. MacFarlane also created the sci-fi show The Orville, which initially aired on Fox before moving to Hulu. MacFarlane’s business with Fox is beyond that, too, as he created the animated TV show American Dan, which moved to TBS after starting its run on Fox.

MacFarlane is said to have met with Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Warner Bros, Sony, Disney, and ViacomCBS before signing with NBC for his new deal that reportedly pays him $40 million per year. Despite signing with NBC, MacFarlane will continue to work on Family Guy for Fox, The Orville for Hulu, and American Dad for TBS.
