Sonic Spin-Off Knuckles Confirms Cast, Including Game Of Thrones Star

Idris Elba will be back voicing the titular role in Knuckles, a spin-off show for Paramount+. He’ll reteam with Adam Pally who’s reprising his role as Wade Whipple from both Sonic the Hedgehog movies. The apparent setup for the series is Knuckles training Whipple as an echidna warrior.

Variety reports Knuckles has already started production, and the show will be set between the sequel and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (releasing December 20, 2024). Jeff Fowler, who directed the first two Sonic movies and is tapped for the third, shared on Twitter that he’s helming the pilot episode of Knuckles.

Other cast members for Knuckles include Game of Thrones star Rory McCann, who portrayed Sandor Clegane on the HBO show, and Tika Sumpter, who will continue playing Maddie Wachowski from the Sonic films. They’ll be joined by Edi Patterson (Violent Night), Julian Barratt (The Great), Scott Mescudi (also known as Kid Cudi and seen in X), and Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso).

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 co-scribe John Whittington serves as the head writer for Knuckles. In addition to Fowler, The Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone will reportedly direct an episode for the show.

The Knuckles show was originally announced in February 2022, along with Sonic the Hedgehog 3. There’s no premiere date yet set for Knuckles on Paramount+.
