Stalker 2 is only a few months away from releasing after suffering several delays, and during June 9’s Xbox Games Showcase, we got to see the survival shooter in action. It looks poised to be one of the best graphical showcases for the Xbox Series X, and its development team certainly hasn’t had an easy time making it. The trailer reaffirmed that Stalker 2 will be launching on September 5.
The trailer featured a look at gameplay, including some of the non-human threats you will face. There were floating-rock enemies, giant monsters, and even a massive tornado. There were plenty of humans to fight too, in addition to a few you can work peacefully with. On top of plenty of gunplay, there was also a glimpse at other activities, like scanning for various enemies and possible radiation.
Stalker 2 is developed by GSC Game World, a Ukrainian studio that was forced to relocate to Prague in the Czech Republic following Russia’s invasion in 2022. One member of the development team, Volodymyr Yezhov, was killed later that year fighting for Ukraine. The studio’s offices in Prague were later damaged in a fire in late 2023, as well, though no one was hurt.
