Stardew Valley: How To Catch Sturgeon

Fishing is one of the five main skills in Stardew Valley, making it a major and important part of running your own farm. There are plenty of different fish to catch, including the Sturgeon, one of the rarer lake fish you can catch. The sturgeon is necessary for completing one of the Fish Tank bundles in the Community Center and is worth a decent amount of money.

How to catch sturgeon

Sturgeon are found in the Mountain Lake from 6 AM to 7 PM, only during Summer and Winter. The Mountain Lake is the small lake found directly outside the Mine and to the east of the Carpenters. The sturgeon is somewhat rare, even during the correct time of year, but is slightly more common when it’s raining and when casting as far as possible into the Mountain Lake.

There are a limited number of rainy days during each season, but there are a few ways to plan ahead. Checking your TV every day can get you a weather report for the following day. You can also create your own rainy day using the Rain Totem, which can be crafted at Foraging level 9. The Rain Totem, which is created using 1 Hardwood, 1 Truffle Oil, and 5 Pine Tars, guarantees that the following day will be a rainy day.

In addition to being necessary for completing the Fish Tank bundle in the Community Center, sturgeon are worth a decent amount of money compared to more common fish. Without any skill boosts, a single sturgeon is worth between 200G and 400G, depending on the quality of the fish.
