FuRyu and Natsume Atari have announced Reynatis, an action-RPG, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The game was revealed in the Japanese version of Nintendo’s February Partner Direct and will launch on July 25 in Japan.
Reynatis is billed as a “juvenile” RPG and takes place in Shibuya. It follows magician Marin Kirizumi and Sari Nishijima, who oversees magicians. These two protagonists come in conflict with one another as the story unfolds.
The story is written by Kazushiga Nojima, who has previously worked on games like the original Final Fantasy VII and its remake. The music is by scored Yoko Shimomura, a pianist best known for her work on Kingdom Hearts.
Players are able to switch between “Liberation” and “Suppression” modes in order to perform flashy attacks. Suppression mode is also used to explore Shibuya while staying undercover. If NPCs around you realize you’re a magician, then the local law enforcement will rush to the scene.
Reynatis hasn’t been announced for a localization yet, but FuRyu’s previous games such as Monark, Trinity Trigger, and The Caligula Effect 2 were brought to Western markets. So it’s certainly possible that Reynatis could make its way outside of Japan at a later date.
This isn’t the only game that was only revealed in the Japanese version of the Partner Direct. It was announced that Mother 3 would join the Nintendo Switch Online catalog of games, but only in Japan.
