Suicide Squad Includes A Heartfelt Tribute To Batman's Legendary Voice Actor, Kevin Conroy

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is an over-the-top, quip-heavy action romp through Metropolis at almost all times, but toward the end of the game, it performs a sudden shift in tone during a post-credits scene meant to pay tribute to the departed and legendary voice actor, Kevin Conroy.

Conroy had voiced Batman since the days of Batman: The Animated Series, which premiered in 1992. He would go on to become the most recognized voice behind the cowl in the character’s illustrious history, later voicing The Dark Knight in dozens of projects, such as several DC Comics animated films as well as the Batman Arkham series from Rocksteady, Suicide Squad’s developer.

The actor passed following a bout with cancer in 2022 while Suicide Squad was still in production, though his work on the game seems to have been completed before his death. As the new game shares a story universe with the Arkham series, Conroy reprises his role as Batman in the game. You can see the full post-credits tribute to the talented actor below via the fan-run Batman Arkham Videos on YouTube.

For fans of a certain age, Conroy is, and perhaps always will be, the definitive version of the caped crusader, above Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, or any other who has stepped into the brooding hero’s boots. Thanks in part to Conroy and longtime Joker voice actor, Mark Hamill, Batman: The Animated Series remains well-regarded today as one of the best cartoons ever made and is responsible for having introduced the character of Harley Quinn, who has gone on to become an iconic character in her own right.

Though Suicide Squad is Conroy’s final performance as Batman in a video game, there reportedly remain two more projects still to come that feature Conroy in his legendary role. Suicide Squad also fills in what happened with Batman after the events of Arkham Knight.
