The first player rankings have been revealed ahead of NBA 2K25‘s release on September 6, starting with the lowest 30 of the top 100 ranked players. 2K has also revealed this year’s top-ranked rookies, as well as some of the top-ranked WNBA players.
The highest ranked player revealed so far is WNBA cover star A’ja Wilson, who will receive a coveted 99 OVR at launch. Wilson’s 99 makes her the highest-rated WNBA player in NBA 2K history, and on par with the greats in the mens’ league–NBA 2K only rarely hands out 99 ratings and often launches without a single player rated 99, as happened last year.
The WNBA’s top five rookies have also been announced with some impressive OVRs. Breakout stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese both netted an impressive 90 OVR, now sharing the title of the highest-rated rookie in the history of NBA 2K. Kamilla Cardoso, Rickea Jackson, and Cameron Brink make up the rest of the top five, each earning an 80 OVR.
In the mens’ league, 2K has revealed the players ranked between 100th and 71st at launch, with OVRs starting at 80 for the top 100. 2K will continue to count down the top players over the week, working up to the reveal of this year’s number-one player. Last year’s number one was Denver Nuggets’ center Nikola Jokić, who took the top spot for the NBA 2K24 launch with a 98 OVR.
While none of the rookies made it into the top 100 this year, 2K has also revealed the 58 top-rated mens’ rookies, with Zaccharie Risacher earning the top rookie rating of 75 OVR.
While ratings reveals are an exciting part of NBA 2K launch season, the OVRs being revealed now are only the players’ launch ratings, which are liable to go up or down over the course of the season.
NBA 2K25 will release on September 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Check out our NBA 2K25 preorder guide for everything you need to know about the game’s various editions and preorder bonuses.
