Now Playing: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next Gen Review

The Witcher 3 now sits ahead of Pokemon Yellow, Blue, and Red, which have sold over 47 million copies combined. For added context, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mario Kart 8 have sold 53 million copies each–a milestone that The Witcher 3 may reach at some point.

Along with this news, it was revealed that the Witcher trilogy has reached 75 million units sold combined across all three entries. The series started on PC with the first entry in 2007, while The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings came to PC as well as Xbox 360 in 2012. The Witcher 3 launched for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2015, before eventually coming to Nintendo Switch and the new generation including PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It experienced a renewed popularity following the premiere of the Netflix series.

The Witcher 4 (codenamed Polaris) is currently in development, but it likely won’t launch until at least 2025. CD Projekt Red has multiple Witcher games in the works.
