Amazon Prime Video The Rings of Power features various trolls throughout the show. Season 2 will be no different, and the inspiration behind Damrod, the latest troll to take the limelight, was based on an iconic character from Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
In an interview with Empire, Patrick McKay, one of the creators of the show, went into further detail on which character from both shows helped create Damrod:
“[He] was inspired in part by Mike Ehrmantraut in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul,” McKay said, “if you look at the way he moves and his casual sense of strength.”
For those unaware, Mike Ehrmantraut is a no-nonsense hitman in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul who’s very well-connected in the criminal world. Although not much information is known about Damrod, McKay described him as an “eater of dragon bones,” and he’ll also be voiced by Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on August 29.
