Now Playing: TopSpin 2K25 – Official "Rally On!" Announcement Trailer

Critics highlighted how the on-court experience feels good in TopSpin 2K25, even after 13 years off. The visuals also stood out to reviewers, along with the meaty MyCareer mode mentioned above. However, the virtual currency and microtransactions felt like a racket to some.

Check out some review highlights below:

IGN — 7/10

“Claiming this is the best tennis simulation since Top Spin 4 may be a bit of a backhanded compliment since there haven’t exactly been any other genuine serve-and-volley contenders released in recent years, but there’s little doubt that despite its rough edges this is still the most enjoyable way to get a realistic rally going in your own home without building an actual court in your backyard.” — Tristan Ogilvie [Full review]

Push Square — 8/10

“TopSpin 2K25 is a confident revival firmly worth the 13-year wait. Admittedly, it might not be for everyone, especially with its rather steep learning curve, but for us, that’s what we love about the game. It inspired us to dig deep into the game’s core mechanics and train our way up the ladder.” — Aaron Bayne [Full review]

Shacknews — 8/10

“Despite a few mishits, TopSpin 2K25 is well worth the wait. Though this revival doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, it gets the fundamentals right. Mastering the new swing meter is challenging, but once you get the timing down, it’s easy to get into the zone and spend hours strategically striking balls on the court without realizing how many hours have passed.” — Nick Tan [Full review]

ScreenRant — 3.5/5

“What players get out of TopSpin 2K25 will depend both on their love of tennis as a sport and their tolerance for the presence of sports game-style microtransactions. The core here is certainly solid, however, and with so few tennis games competing in the market right now, it’s good to see a reappearance from one of the genre’s past greats.” — Rob Gordon [Full review]

COGconnected — 78/100

“It’s honestly remarkable how effectively they’ve built this training machine of a sports title. Playing feels intuitive and responsive, they nailed the vibe, and there’s almost nothing between you and the core gameplay loop. The state of the online scene is yet to be properly determined, but even so. If you’ve been looking for the next great tennis sim, TopSpin 2K25 is sure to hit just right.” — James Paley [Full review]
