Vampire Survivors, the popular isometric roguelike survival game developed by Luca Galante/poncle, is coming to the Nintendo Switch this August. The announcement was made during the June 21 Nintendo Direct livestream.
Originally released in 2022, the game pits players against increasing numbers of enemies which grow stronger with each wave. But players have some defenses at their fingertips, like weapons that attack enemies automatically. Leveling up and and unlocking treasure chests left behind by slain enemies will also give players an edge in combat by supplying them with stronger weapons and character upgrades that make survival a less daunting task.
“There’s no place where to hide, all you can do is try to survive a cursed night and get as much gold as possible for the next survivor, before Death inevitably puts an end to your struggles,” the official Vampire Survivors website says of the game. The site also serves as a gaming platform itself, giving players a chance to check out a browser-based demo of the game.
The game also includes a new local “couch co-op” mode that supports up to four players, so friends can team up to defeat enemies and stay alive (or try to, anyway). The game requires one Joy-Con controller per player, meaning a second set of Joy-Cons is needed for four-player co-op, but two-player is accessible “right out of the box” according to the game’s FAQ.
The new co-op feature will be available on all platforms the same day Vampire Survivors launches on the Nintendo Switch: August 17, 2023. Vampire Survivors can be purchased from the Nintendo eShop for $4.99/£3.99–the same price as it costs on all other platforms. The game’s DLCs will be available for Switch users as well, and like the game itself, all DLCs for Switch cost the same as they do on other platforms. Both the Legacy of the Moonspell and Tides of the Foscari DLCs will be available to purchase from the Nintendo eShop for $1.99/£1.59 each.
