Let there be Venom 3 on November 8, 2024. Sony Pictures has delayed the sequel starring Tom Hardy for a few months–originally planned for July 12–just as SAG-AFTRA reached a tentative agreement with Hollywood studios, ending the months-long strike.
Venom 3 stopped production when the actors strike first started in July, along with other blockbuster movies like Deadpool 3 and Mission: Impossible 8, so it’s likely Sony will make restarting the superhero movie a priority going forward. The studio shifted a lot of release dates in July, with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse up in the air and Kraven the Hunter being moved up to August 30, 2024.
Kelly Marcel will direct Venom 3, which once again sees Hardy in the titular role. She previously scripted the first two films in the franchise and will write the third as well. This will also mark her first time helming a movie.
Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor will join Hardy in Venom 3 in an undisclosed role. Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple will also appear in the superhero film, but her role is a secret so far, too. The movie will look to build on the box office success of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which made over $500 million worldwide in 2021.
