Now Playing: Destiny 2 Witch Queen Where is Xur February 25, 2022

Head to the EDZ’s Winding Cove area to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering the Sunshot hand cannon. Hunters can pick up the Lucky Pants leg armor; for Titans, there’s the Doomfang Pauldron gauntlets; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Skull of Dire Ahamkara helmet.

This isn’t a great week for Xur, though–You’ll find that all three peices of Xur’s Exotic armor are relatively low-stat, falling in the 48-50 range instead of the usual 58-66 range. That may well be to avoid giving any players an extra advantage in the race to complete The Witch Queen’s new raid and become World’s First. This week, you’re only going to want to pick up one of his Exotic armors if you need it for your collection.

Xur also now offers Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale random rolls, since the activities that give those Exotics as rewards have been removed from the game with the release of The Witch Queen. Xur’s DMT carries Vorpal Weapon, which is one of the better perks to get on the gun for PvP activities, along with Steady Rounds, while Hawkmoon includes Eye of the Storm and Alloy Magazine. Those rolls are expensive though, requiring an Exotic Cipher, a huge amount of Glimmer, and an Ascendant Shard.

For Legendary weapons, Xur has a few items that might make decent additions to your arsenal. His Gnawing Hunger auto rifle carries Auto-Loading Holster and Multikill Clip with a Handling Masterwork, a fun roll for PvE; the same is true of his Dire Promise with its Auto-Loading Holster, Swashbuckler and Stability Masterwork roll. For PvP, Sojourner’s Tale is a decent get with Auto-Loading Holster, Opening Shot, and a Range Masterwork, while Xur’s Frozen Orbit might have some useful versatility in both kinds of activities thanks to its Snapshot Sights, Clown Cartridge, and Handling Masterwork. None of these are god rolls, but you might have fun with them.

You can snag the Praefectus set for Xur’s Legendary armor offering this week, which is the armor available from the Season of the Chosen last year. Again, though, the armor isn’t especially useful thanks to its low stat rolls, so use this only if you need to fill out your collection for fashion considerations.

Xur Location

Spawn in at the Winding Cove transmat zone in the EDZ to find Xur this week. You’ll want to hop on your sparrow and head north up the overpass to the cliff at the area’s edge. Look for a cave in the wall where the road bends, which you can enter and follow up to the cliff above. You’ll find Xur standing beside a crashed Fallen dropship there.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher’s Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

Xur Exotic Items

Sunshot is Xur’s Exotic weapon this week, a favorite both in PvE and PvP. The hand cannon hits hard and makes enemies explode when they die, making it great for clearing a room or messing up the plans of Guardians trying to capture a control point. Starting this week, you can now also purchase Dead Man’s Tale and Hawkmoon from Xur, replacing the ability to get random rolls on those guns from the Presage and Harbinger missions from last year. If you’re not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don’t already own. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it–so if you’re trying to get a new Titan helmet, don’t buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower’s Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

Alongside changes in his location, Xur’s inventory also rotates weekly. That means it’s worth visiting him each time to check out his new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system.

Sunshot (Hand Cannon)

Sunshot has been a favorite in all activities since vanilla Destiny 2, because it can be devastatingly powerful. The gun fires explosive rounds, bringing splash damage to enemies around your target, and causes enemies killed with Sunshot to turn into Solar energy bombs, blasting everyone else even more. The gun also highlights targets that take damage from its explosions, making it easier to find your next victim after landing a kill. That power makes it great for the Crucible against other Guardians, as well as for clearing enemies anywhere in the solar system.

Lucky Pants (Hunter)

If you’re a Hunter who likes to fight hand cannon duels, Lucky Pants make a great addition to your loadout. The leg armor make your hand cannons ready faster and makes them more accurate when you swap to them. Kinetic hand cannons and energy versions that match your subclass also do more damage with each subsequent shot you land, so you’re rewarded for fanning that hammer. This is a great Exotic for PvP especially, provided you’ve got a gun you really like; try pairing it with Last Word.

Doomfang Pauldron (Titan)

Doomfang Pauldron is a fun Exotic to pair with your new Void 3.0 Titan loadout. Every time you get a Void melee kill with the Exotic on, you gain Super energy. The Exotic also makes your Sentinel Shield Super even better, with melee kills more quickly recharging the Super’s shield throw ability; land hits with the throw, and you extend your Super’s duration. Try it against a room full of Lucent Hive or a few Guardians trying to put together an ambush.

Skull of Dire Ahamkara (Warlock)

Nova Bomb is a devastating Super ability for Warlocks, but it leaves its caster pretty vulnerable. Skull of Dire Ahamkara helps with that situation, making you tougher to kill while you’re actually creating the Nova Bomb–which is very handy in PvP situations. For PvE considerations, the helmet returns Super energy with every Nova Bomb kill, which makes it great for clearing a room and getting your Super back more quickly. Note, however, that the returns are capped at 50% of your Super, so you can’t rely on the helmet to keep you dropping bombs all day long.
