Why Game Of Thrones Star Lena Headey Won't Watch House Of The Dragon

Actress Lena Headey starred on HBO’s Game of Thrones for all of its eight seasons, but has she seen the spinoff House of the Dragon? No. She has not.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Headey was asked if she watched the prequel series, and she replied, “Nah.” Pressed for further details, Headey said it would be “too weird” to watch the show.

Headey, who played Cersei, said she does not miss Game of Thrones the show, but she misses the people and the friends she made along the way. “There’s a weird grief from those relationships. But I don’t miss it. We did it. We put everything into it. It changed everyone’s f**king world, and we’ll always have it.”

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Cersie’s brother and lover Jaime, also has not seen House of the Dragon as of April. “I’ll wait. I’ll give it a couple of seasons, then I can binge watch it and then there’s the whole thing,” he said. “But I know that so many people love that show, and I’m really happy for them.”

Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys, said she “just can’t” bring herself to watch the show. “It’s kind of like someone saying, ‘You want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? You want to go to that school reunion?’ That’s kind of how it feels. I’m avoiding it,” she told Variety (via EW).

House of the Dragon had a successful first season and is coming back. However, Season 2 is expected to have eight episodes, compared to 10 for Season 1.

House of the Dragon was extremely popular for HBO, averaging 29 million viewers for each episode during the first season. That’s a big number, but HBO’s The Last of Us did even better. HBO is also eyeing a Game of Thrones spin-off about Jon Snow and another prequel series.
