Xbox's FPS Boost Support For Fallout 4, Skyrim, Other Bethesda Games Now Live

After making 20 Bethesda games available through Xbox Game Pass and confirming that some would receive the new FPS Boost feature on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox has announced that FPS Boost support is now available for games like Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Five titles from the 20 Bethesda games can now take advantage of FPS Boost. Alongside Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, the list includes Dishonored: Definitive Edition, Fallout 76, and Prey. It’s unclear if other Bethesda games will get the same treatment in the future.

For the above games, players can opt for a higher frame rate without the developers needing to patch the games. However, upping the frame rate comes at the cost of resolution, as is the case with Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. FPS Boost is not automatically enabled in these titles to preserve their resolutions. Players can, though, turn FPS Boost on in these games to smoothen the experience. Thanks to a recent Xbox update, FPS Boost can also be disabled in order to play them at their original frame rate. Xbox said that players can expect to see an increase of up to 60fps, though the new March update must be downloaded to be able to do this.

The FPS Boost feature almost doubles a game’s frame rate by using the more powerful CPU and GPU inside Xbox Series X|S consoles. The feature provides for a smoother gameplay experience.
