Showtime has announced that its thriller drama series Yellowjackets will return for Season 2 on March 24, 2023. The network shared the news with a 15-second teaser video that you can see below.
A synopsis of the series in part reads: “[Yellowjackets is about] a team of wildly talented high-school girls soccer players who survive a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans, while also tracking the lives they have attempted to piece back together. Showtime’s new trailer only hints at all the mysteries and revelations still to come.
Yellowjackets premiered in November 2021, and quickly proved itself as a winning weekly survival horror mystery. In a GameSpot write-up of the series shortly after its debut, Mason Downey called the show “brutal” and a rewarding “week-to-week mystery story” that’s perfect for fans of Lost. Season 1 racked up a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and received seven Emmy nominations.
The show is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), and its stars include Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Juliette Lewis (Camping), Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything), and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable). Season 2 stars Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers), Sophie Thatcher (Prospect), Samantha Hanratty (SHAMELESS), Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet), Steven Krueger (The Originals), Warren Kole (Shades of Blue), and Kevin Alves.
