The live streaming service YouTube TV will see an $8 price hike immediately for new subscribers, coming in at $73 monthly. Meanwhile, current memberships won’t see their bills increase from $65 until April 18.
According to Google, “the rising cost of content” is causing the price change for YouTube TV. However, the 4K Plus package will actually see a price decrease. The add-on will drop from $20 monthly to $10. There was no explanation for why that premium option was cut in half.
This is the first time Google has increased the monthly rate for the live streaming service since June 2020. Back then, YouTube TV saw a price hike of $15. One key difference with that raise was new channels and features were being added to the service at the time.
YouTube TV advertises that the service offers over 100 channels with no annual fees. Subscribers also get unlimited DVR storage and up to three concurrent streams.
The app for YouTube TV came to PlayStation 5 in 2021. It was already available on Xbox consoles.
