Transformers One just kicked off its theatrical run, but preorders are already live for the upcoming 4K Blu-ray release of the well-received animated movie. Currently priced at $45, the 4K Blu-ray edition comes with a gorgeous steelbook case. As a reminder, the price on this could drop before its eventual release, and Amazon’s preorder price guarantee means you’ll pay the lowest price between the time you order and when it ships. Transformers One tells the secret origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, and early buzz for the film has been largely positive so far.

Special features haven’t been revealed yet, but animated movies typically have a better selection of bonus material than their live-action counterparts, so there’s a decent chance the Blu-ray will be loaded with behind-the-scenes extras. Transformers One looks a vibrant adventure, and it features a star-studded cast of actors, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm.
Though steelbook editions of films don’t always sell out, this seems like one that could be hard to find over the holidays. Transformers fans should probably secure a preorder if they are interested in adding the steelbook to their collection.
If you’d like to build a Transformers movie collection, there are some pretty great deals on right now for the live-action movies. They’re loud, chaotic, weird, and pretty much the best thing to happen to cinema since Linkin Park allowed New Divide to be used as a closing credits song. The best value for your buck here is this nice $69 six-pack of Transformers movies in 4K, as it includes the 2007 film, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon, Age of Extinction, The Last Knight, and the Bumblebee spin-off.
Each movie comes in a handsome steelbook cover, and in case you only have a regular high-definition TV, standard Blu-ray copies are included as well. The bundle doesn’t include the most-recent movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, but you can pick up a 4K copy with a steelbook cover for $21.
That works out to be a little bit cheaper than the upcoming $94 seven-movie Transformers bundle that includes all off the live-action films, as none of the 4K Blu-rays in the new box set come with steelbook covers. Still, it’s nice to have everything neatly organized in one collection, and there’s also a standard Blu-ray version of this bundle for $44. The seven-movie Transformers bundle releases September 24.
If you’re a Transformers fan looking for an exclusive collectible, you can also check out this limited-edition gift set. It comes with Transformers 1-4 on standard Blu-ray and a Legion-class Transformers Prime figure of Prowl for only $17.
