Destiny 2 Solstice 2024 Guide: How To Get Silver Leaves, Upgrade Armor, And More

Destiny 2’s Solstice event has returned, but this year, there are some big changes to the event. At its core, Solstice is still a rewarding activity that can help you get armor pieces with desirable stat-point allocations, some great weapons with refreshed perks, and a few new pieces of gear like the Fortunate Star combat bow.

You can read more below for how to get the most out of your Solstice experience this year, how to upgrade your new armor sets, and why you should emphasize playing as a team this year instead of lone-wolfing your way across the map.

Solstice 2024 start and end dates

Solstice runs this year from August 8-27.

How to start Solstice 2024

Everyone’s favorite mom in Destiny 2, Eva LeVante can be found in the Tower social space next to the Solstice bonfire. She’s right in front of you when you land, between Banshee-44 and Tess Everis’s store, so she’s hard to miss. Talk to her, and she’ll give you the Solstice Forge to help you get started.

How to use the Solstice Forge

If you want to get your fancy new piece of Solstice armor, you’re going to need to complete quite a few bounties. These are all found in the Solstice Forge–accessible from the Quest menu and when interacting with Eva–but the catch here is that you can only have one bounty active per piece of armor. These aren’t difficult to complete, and you’ll get five alloys for a specific armor piece per completed bounty. Clearing any activity will also reward you with Solstice Leaves, which is one of the currencies you’ll use when forging armor pieces.

A quick reminder: There are five categories of armor in Destiny 2–Helmet, chest, gauntlets, legs, and class item–and you’ll only see bounties for three of them on the Solstice Forge. There is a second page here, so don’t forget to grab a bounty here, seeing as how several of them overlap with each other when it comes to completing specific tasks.

Bounty rarities

Bounties are broken up into three tiers–common, uncommon, and legendary–and cost Silver Leaves to acquire. Common bounties can be grabbed for one Silver Leaf, uncommon bounties will cost you three Silver Leaves, and Legendary Bounties cost five Silver Leaves each. As you’d expect, there’s a balance of risk and reward here, with common bounties being the easiest to complete but only giving you five armor alloys in return. Meanwhile, a Legendary bounty is tougher, but you’ll get 50 armor alloys, so they’re worth the investment. These require high-level activity completions like Grandmaster Nightfalls and Dungeon encounters, so prep your Guardian for a fight.

You can reroll the bounty page for a page of fresh challenges, but this will cost you five Silver Leaves. A good exploit here is to look for the bounty that tasks you with generating Orbs of Power when you’re out in the field. Run that bounty across all five armor categories, and you can metaphorically kill five birds with one stone to score a ton of armor alloy.

How to get Silver Leaves

Several Destiny 2 activities will reward you with Silver Leaves, as you can grind through Legendary Lost Sectors, Tier 4 Overthrows, Public Events, Ritual Activities, and the Bonfire Bash to get the Solstice currency.

Forging Sublime armor pieces

Once you’ve got enough armor alloy, you can load up the Solstice Forge and select the “Forging an Ingot” bounty. Complete a Bonfire Bash, turn in the bounty, and you’ll get your armor piece. The good news is that once you’ve forged that piece of armor, it’ll be added to the loot pool of Bonfire Bash, so you’ll have a high chance of getting rewarded with a piece every time you finish that activity.

You can further improve them by completing Eva’s “Celebrating Solstice” quest, adding a white glow effect to your gear. This requires playing more Bonfire Bash and some armor alloy, which you can quickly do in a few sessions. If you want other color glows, you’ll have to buy them from the Eververse store, with the full bundle costing 1,500 Silver–$10 in real cash–or with 6,000 Bright Dust. Bungie is giving away free Bright Dust packages over the next couple of weeks, and progressing through the season pass tiers will also add that currency to your in-game wallet.

Improving your Sublime armor pieces

So you’ve got a cool Sublime helmet for your Titan, but the mobility stat is far too high, and you’d rather prioritize sinking some points into resilience. This is where you can grab new bounties that can potentially reward you with high-stat Solstice armor pieces and weapons with multiple traits. The rarer the bounty, the better your chances at getting a desired roll.

Visit the EAZ

The EAZ can be accessed from the game director, within the Tower. As a match-made activity, you’ll be joined by two other players as you explore this offshoot of the European Dead Zone. Not much has changed here, as the EAZ is a collection of floating islands and wide-open arenas home to the Bonfire Bash mode. Verticality is a big element here, so equip your Guardian with the best skills for navigating these high-rise environments or memorize the locations of jump pads scattered throughout the map to quickly gain access to the rooftops that are crawling with enemies. Also keep in mind that Eva will sell bounties that can only be completed in Bonfire Bash.

Solstice buffs and how to play Bonfire Bash

The main goal of Bonfire Bash is to stoke the titular bonfire in the middle of the EAZ. To do this, you’ll want to keep an eye out for special Ignition Carrier enemies who spawn alongside a small army. Their location will be highlighted on the map, and these challenging foes will also have a shining effect applied to them to make them stand out from the crowd.

Defeat one of them, and they’ll drop three orbs that can be picked up and thrown into the bonfire so that you can stoke the flames. The catch here is that these orbs will only be active for a few seconds, and depending on the specific location where they drop, it may be impossible for a single Guardian to grab all three before they expire.

This is where teamwork comes into play, as an organized fireteam can grab all of these orbs in time. The more orbs you use to stoke the flames, the better your rewards at the end of a Bonfire Bash activity. This event also runs on a timer, and once time is up, a Heat Drinker boss will arrive on the field. Defeat it, collect your gear and Silver Ash, and you’ll finish a round of Bonfire Bash.

This year will be a more challenging experience, but if you stick with your fireteam, you’ll find that there’s some extra power to take advantage of in Solstice thanks to two buffs that are exclusive to the event. By staying in range of your team, you’ll activate Firebound, which gives you increased recovery and Super regeneration when you’re close to a fireteam member, and Flare–which is also available in Vanguard Ops–causes you to unleash damaging waves of paracausal energy when you rapidly defeat enemies.

After you emerge victorious, you can claim your rewards and get ready to do this event all over again! The Solstice Event Card will also have several extra rewards for you to claim if certain objectives are met, so check in often on that to-do list to see if you can add some new gear to your collection. A premium version of the Event Card is also available, and unlocking this with the premium Silver currency will add exclusive shaders, Ghost shells, and Exotic emotes to your collection.
