Transformers One Comic-Con Trailer Depicts The Fallout Between Optimus Prime And Megatron

It’s day one of San Diego Comic-Con and the Autobots are ready to roll out. During a Hall H panel, the latest trailer for the animated movie Transformers One was revealed, but this time around, it wasn’t dropped from space.

The panel featured stars Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan Michael Key, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and director Josh Cooley. During the panel, the four discussed the upcoming movie. Those in attendance also got a peek at some clips on the upcoming movie as well.

Prior to the trailer release, Lorenzo explained the movie and why it’s an animated movie. “The origin story, first of all, is incredibly rich,” Lorenzo said. “And it’s something we’ve thought about for a long time. If we tried to do this in live-action it would probably cost $500 million.”

Lorenzo explained the movie is entirely focused around the robots and won’t have any human characters in it. After cheers from the crowd, Lorenzo jokingly yelled, “Damn you humans!”

The film follows Optimus Prime (Orion Pax in Transformers One) and Megatron (D-16), who are worker bots on Cybertron that can’t transform. The duo go on an adventure to the surface of their planet, accompanied by other robots, and they gain the ability to transform. Of course, they don’t know how to use their abilities right away. The group of four robots come together as well to fight other robots on the planet. It’s a comedic and action-packed take on the long-running franchise about robots turning into cars, planes, and sometimes, planets.

The first trailer for the upcoming prequel was revealed back in April, giving fans a first look at the origin story of these Autobots in disguise. Early reactions to a screening of the movie called it one of the best movies in the franchise’s history.

Transformers One arrives in theaters on September 30.
