WP GeoIP Country Redirect detects visitor locations using IP geolocation and automatically redirects them to country-specific pages, subdomains, or external URLs. This enables multi-regional content delivery and geo-targeted user experiences.
Redirect Capabilities
- IP-based country detection using GeoIP databases
- Redirect to specific pages, URLs, or subdomains per country
- Multiple redirect rules for different countries
- Skip redirect for search engine crawlers
- Cookie-based persistence to avoid repeated redirects
Use Cases
Common applications include redirecting to language-specific versions of your site, sending visitors to region-specific pricing pages, blocking access from specific countries, and routing to regional e-commerce stores.
Practical Notes
GeoIP accuracy is typically 95-99% at the country level. VPN and proxy users may not be redirected correctly. The plugin uses local GeoIP databases for speed rather than external API lookups, which means periodic database updates are needed.
