SearchWP Fuzzy Matches adds approximate matching to SearchWP, finding results even when search terms are misspelled. Using string distance algorithms, the addon identifies content that closely matches what was typed, compensating for typos and spelling variations.
Fuzzy Search Features
- Typo Tolerance — Find results despite misspelled search terms
- String Distance — Algorithm-based approximate matching for close spellings
- Configurable Tolerance — Adjust how many character differences are acceptable
- Zero-Result Reduction — Fewer empty search result pages for visitors
Fuzzy matching is valuable for sites with complex product names, technical terminology, or international audiences who may spell English terms differently. The tolerance level balances between catching typos and avoiding irrelevant matches.
