Description

AffiliateWP External Referral Links extends the standard AffiliateWP referral tracking beyond your WordPress site. While AffiliateWP normally tracks referrals that lead to purchases on your own WooCommerce or EDD store, this addon allows you to create tracked links pointing to external URLs and credit affiliates for driving that traffic.

Core Functionality

• External URL tracking: Create affiliate referral links that redirect to external websites while recording the referral in AffiliateWP. The affiliate gets credited for driving the click or conversion.
• Custom landing pages: Set up tracked links to specific external landing pages, partner sites, or third-party platforms where your products or services are also available.
• Referral recording: Each click through an external referral link is logged in AffiliateWP with the affiliate ID, timestamp, and destination URL for reporting and commission tracking.
• Commission flexibility: Set per-link commission rates or use the global AffiliateWP rate. Commissions can be based on clicks or manually approved conversions.

Practical Considerations

Since external sites do not have AffiliateWP installed, conversion tracking on the destination site is not automatic. The addon tracks the click and redirect, but confirming that the visitor completed a purchase or action on the external site requires manual verification or a callback integration. This addon is useful for cross-promotion partnerships, multi-site businesses, and scenarios where you want affiliates promoting properties outside your WordPress installation.
